Online help and other online support approaches are sometimes referred to under the umbrella terms Electronic Performance Support or Integrated Performance Support.
However labelled, the intent is the same: to minimise the distance between the request for help, and the gaining of that help. If you cannot improve the user interface (to remove the need for help), integrated performance support is the next best option.
